Corboy & Demetrio a Proud Sponsor of CARPLS’ 2018 Golden Gavel Celebration

Corboy & Demetrio is proud to be a Founder Sponsor of the 2018 Golden Gavel Celebration, which is the largest annual fundraiser for Coordinated Advice & Referral Program for Legal Services(CARPLS).  The event, “One Justice for All,” takes place on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at the Fairmont Chicago.

Corboy & Demetrio Partner Susan J. Schwartz serves on CARPLS Board of Directors and has been involved with CARPLS for many years.

CARPLS is Cook County’s largest provider of free legal services. Founded in 1993, it has helped more than 800,000 low- and moderate-income residents with their legal problems, including divorce and custody issues, landlord-tenant disputes, foreclosures and debt. It also operates a free telephone hotline that allows people to speak directly to attorneys. The first of its kind in the nation, the CARPLS hotline has served as a model for legal assistance providers across the country.

In addition, CARPLS offers legal advice and document preparation assistance at four court-based self-help centers. These services are provided for people representing themselves.
