The Hillside Disabled Veterans Home Project built and gave a home to disabled Veteran Sergio Lopez of Joliet who was injured during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The Project was spearheaded by the Village of Hillside and the Plote Companies. Lopez was struck by an Improvised Explosive Device in 2006 in Iraq and lost both of his legs below his knees.
Mr. Lopez and his wife have two young daughters.
With the help of 330 tradesmen & women, and nearly 300 individuals and groups that contributed labor, materials & monetary donations, this home was completed for Army SPC Sergio Lopez & his family in only 86 days.
