There have been 550 Chicago police officers who have died in the line of duty and it is the mission of the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation is to honor the lives of fallen officers who were killed or severly injured while serving the public. Established in 2004, the Foundation provides support to officers’ loved ones and recognizes those who have fallen in a permament memorial in a park on the east side of Soldier Field. Mayor Rahm Emanual is the honorary chairperson of the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation.
